What is it that you want?
A simple question. And yet it’s one that most of the women I speak with find hardest to answer or articulate.
But….
Understanding and clarifying what you want helps you to move forward. It’s like plugging a postcode into a satnav in a car, at the beginning of a journey.
It’s your direction. It’s your destination.
Many of us have spent years thinking about what others want: children, families, partners, employers. We haven’t stopped to think about what we want in a long time. It can feel self-centred. Selfish. (It really isn’t!).
Sometimes a change in our circumstances – children leaving home, a relationship ending, a job changing, retirement, illness – pushes us to re-evaluate and ask ourselves this question.
But you don’t need a big life event to be the catalyst for thinking about what you want. And what you want doesn’t have to be a big, grand, major thing.
It could be as simple as deciding, ‘I want to spend more time with my family’. Or, ‘I want to take more time out for myself to get creative’. Or, ‘I want to get outside more’. Or, I want to do more of what I enjoy’.
Once you know what it is, you can start to make a plan to make it happen. It’s your personal postcode for your personal satnav.
Do it today. Think about what it is that you really want.
What would bring you most joy? What would make your heart sing?
Decide what you most want. And then go for it.
